Shade: An Alien Scifi Romance (Book 6 in the Colony: Nyx series) EBOOK

This story was hilarious as the others in the series. In this one Shade and Ivana play pretend couple but then things heat up. Made me laugh and groan. But found it entertaining. Fast paced and a bit steamy but fun.

Shade is an incubus who works as one of Hera’s Enforcers. He was the villain in Fang’s book. He doesn’t appear much better at the beginning of this story. He was betrayed by his wife, and can’t get over it. Iva is living at Star Farms, sent there to get her away from a man her mother felt was unsuitable. She thinks Jupiter is here at the colony, so she continues to look for him. She is not the woman he wants; he is not the man she wants. Once they are more or less forced together, will things change? There is a misunderstanding that causes Shade to turn Iva over to the watch, and a challenge getting her back. This is a short, steaming hot romance with kink. What looks like a mismatch, just might be true love.

A fun and spicy alien romance.. I especially liked the ending :)

Shade, the male demon lead, is at risk of being ejected from the Colony because he hasn’t been coping well with the death of his faithless wife. Desperate, he contracts for a human to claim as his wife to show progress. Iva, the female human lead, joined the Colony because her much older lover promised he would be there and claim her as his permanent partner but he’s never arrived. Frustrated, she follows up with the organisation she’s contracted to, only to be told that her lover died before he could board the Colony ship. Now Iva’s just determined to find a lover to suit her taste, and Shade could be just who she needs…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, sci fi romance. I was amused by Iva’s self-centredness - she wasn’t malicious, just self focused and determined to get what she wanted. I enjoyed Shade’s similar self focus. Neither of these characters is particularly nice but they suited each other perfectly. I enjoyed their steamy intimate interludes and I enjoyed how the story furthered the background plot running through this series. I also appreciated the setup for the next story.
